Dr Harriet Gurprashad
BSc(Hons) MBBS MRCPsych MSc(Oxon)
Harriet holds a medical degree and is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. She undertook her general psychiatry training at the Maudsley Hospital, London before specialising in Forensic Psychiatry with the North London Forensic Service. She additionally holds a BSc(Hons) in Neuroscience and an MSc(Oxon) in Medical Anthropology. Harriet has expertise in working with mentally disordered offenders, and her clinical work has included working in medium and high secure hospitals and as an expert witness to the Courts.
As part of her role as a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist she has experience in safeguarding, risk assessment and management, and is an advocate of mental health awareness and service improvement. She has spent years working in prisons with some of the most marginalised in our society, and is the Clinical Lead of the Mental Health Team across the Buckinghamshire prison cluster. This includes the high secure youth estate. She has previously held roles as Clinical Lead at HMP Brixton, and was Chair of the London Prisons Psychiatrist Network, prior to moving to Oxfordshire.
